This Summer I am seeking simplicity in the small things. Long walks in the countryside admiring the wildlife and the wonderful views our country has to offer is simply perfect on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Nestled in heart of the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire (once owned by The Chequers estate) lies Coombe Hill. The National Trust owned land overlooks the incredible site of Aylesbury Vale and on a clear day you can even see all the way to The Cotswolds.
Britain is truly beautiful isn’t it?
Coombe Hill is the highest viewpoint in The Chilterns and so is the perfect place to fly a kite on a breezy day. The Boer War memorial also makes for an incredibly impressive backdrop.
The Chilterns is known for it’s wonderful walking routes & Coombe Hill doesn’t disappoint. Taking in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside there is a relaxed 40 minute ‘The Best of Coombe Hill Walk’. Long enough to shake off the cobwebs but not too long so the little ones start complaining! You can see details of the route here. It is also clearly signposted in the car park. Alternatively for the more energetic amongst us, there is a much longer, more challenging route taking in up to 7 miles of countryside. This walk takes you past the world famous Prime Ministers country retreat of The Chequers and through the pretty village of Ellesborough. It is hard going in places but extremely enjoyable offering varied views and landscape.

The Chilterns is one of my favourite places to explore in the warmer months, the possibilities are endless. Have you been? Which part is your favourite?
